Questions and answers
Answers to common questions about payment, reading, devices, refunds, print-ready PDFs, Trinity MemberMonthly membership and your account. The binding texts of our rules are on the terms and the other legal pages (in Japanese).
Payment
How can I pay?
With a credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or another method shown on the payment page.
Payments are processed through Stripe's Link, and your card statement shows a name that starts with "LINK.COM*".
Which currency are the prices in?
Prices are shown in the currency you choose under “Currency” at the top of the page (at first, the usual currency of the page language), at their fixed prices. They are not estimates.
On the payment page you pay in that currency and amount.
If exchange rates change a lot, we may review the prices.
Can I get a receipt?
You can view your receipt through the link in the e-mail Stripe sends you after you pay.
Can I look inside a book before I buy it?
Each book page shows the introduction, the contents and a passage from the book; books with a preview also show sample pages. Please check the language, the content and the length before you buy.
Can I buy other language editions?
Yes: choose the edition under "Language of the book" on the book page and buy it there, in the language of the page. The price depends on that edition's number of pages and is the same for everyone.
With Trinity MemberMonthly membership, you can read every language edition as much as you like.
Can I pay for several books at once?
Use "Add to cart" on the book pages, then pay for them together from the cart.
Reading
How do I read a book I bought?
As soon as the payment is complete, sign in and choose "Read" in My books to read in your web browser. No app is needed.
Can I download or print a book?
Books read on the web cannot be downloaded or printed. With Trinity MemberMonthly membership, you can buy the print-ready PDF of each book (see “Print-ready PDFs”).
Books cannot be downloaded as files, but “Save for offline reading” keeps a book inside your browser so you can read it without a connection (see “Can I read offline?”).
Can I read offline?
Yes. Press “Save for offline reading” on My books or on the book’s contents page: the book is kept only inside this device’s web browser and can be read without an internet connection. The saved book is kept encrypted and cannot be taken out as a file.
Open your saved books with “Read offline” on My books, or just open this site where there is no connection. With “Add to Home Screen” in your browser you can also open it like an app.
A save lasts 30 days from the last time it was checked online, and is renewed automatically when you are online. You can save any number of books you bought (up to 30 new saves a day in all). Members can save up to 3 books they have not bought at a time, and up to 3 new ones a day; removing a save frees its place. When the membership ends, the members’ books saved are deleted the next time you open the site.
Highlights, notes, bookmarks and your reading position made offline are kept on the device and sent when you are online again, so all your devices agree.
What happens to my saved books if I lose a device?
Log in on another device and press “Remove from this device” under “Books saved for offline reading” on My books. The book is deleted when the lost device goes online, and it cannot be read after 30 days even if it never does.
To sign out everywhere, use “Sign out everywhere” on your account page. When you sign out (also with “Sign out everywhere” on another device), the books saved on that device are deleted the next time it is online.
Can I continue where I stopped?
The page you reached is remembered for each book, so next time you can pick up with "Continue reading", also on another device.
Can I change the text size or the colours?
In the reader's display settings you can choose the text size (5 steps), the line spacing (3 steps) and the colours (white, paper, night, black and white).
For books shown as page images you can choose the page size and how two pages are placed side by side.
The pages stopped showing for a while.
If a very large number of pages is opened in a very short time, we may pause the display for a while. After some time you can read again. There is no limit on the number of pages of the books you bought.
There is faint text on the pages.
Each page shows a faint mark of the account that bought the book (part of the e-mail address and a buyer number). It lets us check which account a book came from if its content is shared.
Devices
Which devices can I read on?
Any web browser connected to the internet: on a smartphone, a computer, a tablet or an e-reader. See "Devices you can use" for details.
Is there an app?
No. You read in your web browser.
Refunds
Can I return a book or get a refund?
Our books are digital products that can be read right after payment, so we cannot accept returns or refunds for a change of mind.
When do you give a refund?
If a book cannot be read or its display is badly broken (and we cannot fix it), if the content is very different from the description on the book page, or if you bought the same book twice by mistake, please write to us from the contact page within 30 days of the purchase. We will refund you.
Can I also ask Link's support?
For payment questions you can also contact the support of Link (Stripe). Link may, at its discretion, refund a purchase within 60 days. A refunded book is removed from My books.
Print-ready PDFs
What is the print-ready PDF?
The print-ready PDFs of a language edition (interior and cover, A5). They are sold only with Trinity MemberMonthly membership, for $3.50 per language edition.
You may print and bind it for yourself (at home, at a print shop or with a print service). You may not give or sell the PDF or the printed copy to others. The colophon of the PDF says so.
What happens to my print-ready PDFs if I end my membership?
The print-ready PDFs you bought stay in My books and can still be downloaded after your membership ends. New ones can only be bought while you are a member.
Where can I have it bound?
“Bind your own copy” in My books lists print-on-demand services by country that print a single copy. Prices and terms are each service’s own, and you order directly from the service (our store does not handle the order).
Can I buy a printed book?
Printed books can be ordered on the book page (“Printed book”) for delivery to Australia, Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States. The price, shipping and delivery time are shown for each country.
A version with a cover can also be chosen as an option (to Japan: the paperback with a removable cover; to other countries: a cloth hardcover with a removable dust jacket). Its price, shipping and delivery time are shown on the book page.
Paper books to Japan: printed and shipped within Japan by the Japanese printer 製本直送.com (株式会社ブックフロント, Tokyo), delivered in about 8–18 days from the order. The delivery details (name, address, telephone number) are given to 製本直送.com to print and ship the book. Orders cannot be cancelled or returned; defective or damaged copies are reprinted and sent again.
Printed books go to print right after you order, so orders cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded once placed, except where the law allows it. Misprints and damage in transit are reprinted and sent again free of charge.
Printed books cannot be sent to countries other than these 23. A downloadable print-ready PDF is also sold (for Trinity MemberMonthly membership): you can buy it and bind a copy yourself.
Trinity MemberMonthly membership
What do I get with Trinity MemberMonthly membership?
Read every e-book in the store, in every language, in your web browser, as much as you like.
There are no member prices. Books cost the same for everyone, and the books you buy are yours to keep.
Highlights and notes, bookmarks, the reading log, search inside a book, reading two languages side by side and keeping your place across devices are for everyone who owns the book, member or not (to read two languages side by side, you need both editions or a membership).
How much does it cost?
There is a monthly plan ($6.99 a month, tax included) and a yearly plan ($69.90 a year, tax included: 10 months' fee, so 2 months free).
If you have never been a member, the first month of the monthly plan is $3.49 (once per e-mail address). The yearly plan is the full yearly price from the start.
How do I cancel?
You can cancel either plan at any time from "Trinity Member" on your account page. Nothing more is charged from the next renewal date. You stay a member until the end of the period you paid for, with no partial refunds. You can also cancel on link.com.
When your membership ends, books you have not bought can no longer be used.
The books you bought stay in My books. Your highlights, notes, reading log and bookmarks are never deleted and keep working.
You cannot have the monthly and the yearly plan at the same time. To change plans, cancel your current plan and join with the other one once your membership period has ended.
Is there a limit on how much members can read?
As set out in the terms of use, to prevent bulk copying of the content, the amount members can read of e-books they have not bought is limited (currently 200 pages an hour and 1,000 pages in 24 hours). E-books you bought do not count toward this limit and have no limit.
Only pages you open for the first time count; reading a page you have already opened again does not. Search results inside a book and reading two languages side by side also count as pages opened.
When a limit is reached, the page stops and tells you in about how many minutes (or hours) you can read on.
What is the ad at the bottom of the pages?
At the bottom of the pages we may show one ad for another company's service (marked "Ad"). Pressing it opens that company's site in a new tab; how your information is handled there is up to that company.
We use no advertising cookies and no other company's programs. If you close the ad with ×, it is not shown on that device for an hour.
Account
How do I create an account?
Choose "Create account" and enter your name, e-mail address and a password. Open the confirmation link in the e-mail we send you, and your account is ready.
I forgot my password.
From the sign-in page we can send a link to your registered e-mail address to set a new password.
Can I use two-step verification?
Yes. In your account's security settings you can turn on two-step verification with an authenticator app. You can also create backup codes in case you cannot use the app.
Can I share my account?
No. An account cannot be used by more than one person.
Can I change my e-mail address or delete my account?
Both can be done on your account page. When you change your e-mail address, a confirmation e-mail is sent to the new address.
When you delete your account, we delete your personal information except the purchase records the law requires us to keep. You can then no longer read the books you bought.
Is what I do on the page recorded?
When you first open a page of a book in the reader, we record only the time and a sign of whether a key, touch, mouse or wheel action happened in the 2 minutes before. When the browser seems to be driven by a program (an automation flag, an automated browser, or no language setting), we record that sign too.
We do not record which keys you pressed, what you typed or where you tapped. Two small cookies carry the sign (they expire after 2 minutes and 1 hour).
We use this only to count the pages read correctly for paying the publishers of their books, and to tell mass automated reading apart. Publishers receive only the number of pages per book and month, never who read them. See the Privacy Policy (in Japanese) for details.
